Job Description

2G Macro and In-building design including DAS applications. Optimize, analyze and improve the performance of GSM/GPRS/EDGE network utilizing RF propagation principles, cellular theory, RF engineering tools, antenna theory. Analyze results of the detailed network competitive drive test as compared to the network statistics and design needed search rings using Asset Propagation tools, OptPCS, and Mapinfo to improve network performance. Rank the search rings based on priority and create them in Insite for Soft Cost approval. Conduct drive test and in-building walks to justify both macro and in-building sites. Perform link budget analysis. Validate antenna sweeps and perform model tuning. Prepare and present zoning justification package to local jurisdictions for new sites and existing site modifications. Prepare FAA/FCC filings, E-911 plots, data fill and support E-911 deployment. Apply GSM handover and power control algorithms to perform network optimization and performance improvement, and verify frequency hopping parameters. Utilize VBA (Visual Basic A) and database skills to create macros to automate and perform trending analysis.

Minimum Required Skills / Competencies

3-5 years experience as a RF Design Engineering or related position
Must have experience with
(1) applying RF propagation principles to both macro and in-building design, cellular theory, RF engineering tools, antenna theory and performing frequency planning and implementation, using Asset Prop Tool, OptPCS and MapInfo
(2) preparing FAA/FCC filings and preparing and presenting zoning justifications to local jurisdictions
(3)Prepare E-911 plots, data fill and support E-911 deployment and
(4) utilizing VBA and database skills to create macros to automate and perform trending analysis
