Openings for an GCC Telecom Company

On-site support engineer

Installation and upgrade/patching of Solaris Operating System, Oracle Database, Veritas products and SmartTrust products

Testing of product functionality in accordance with Third-party software principles and SmartTrust product user acceptance test specifications

Configuration and set-up of systems integration with customer GSM environment, customer billing systems, customer care systems and other miscellaneous systems if applicable

Operational support for all issues related to the customers use of the supplied system (software and hardware):

Issues covering configuration (SmartTrust and Third Party Products)

SIM card testing and importing

System administration and housekeeping

Patch testing and installation

Management of trouble tickets with the SmartTrust Support Organization, including log file analysis, trouble ticket investigation and information gathering.

Demonstrations of the solution and functionality to the customer

Management of technical aspects of any change requests

Assistance during on-site training

Engineering support to future SmartTrust sales activities and projects with the customer

The above tasks are supported by SmartTrust Systems Engineer (during project phase) and SmartTrust Support (during commercial operation / Support and

Maintenance phase).

Additional tasks may be required depending on target solution and customer environment. Examples are: Over-The-Air campaign management of SFM file updates and/or DSTK menu downloads, WML development of DSTK menus.

Such tasks will be agreed and managed on a case-by-case basis.


2. Competence and skills requirements


The on-site engineer must fulfil the below listed competence and skills



3 years of relevant experience in complex systems engineering and support

(preferably in international telecommunications or IT products & services environment,

or equivalent technical and troubleshooting experience).

Good knowledge in the below areas:

o Administration and Installation of SmartTrust Delivery Platform and

Device Management products.

o UNIX (Sun Solaris)

o Oracle and SQL

o TCP/IP networking

o Windows NT

Ability to be comfortable in a customer environment

Ability to work independently, taking own initiatives when necessary

Technical education preferably on university degree level

Ability to communicate clearly in written reports and verbal (phone and face-to-face) dialogue with customers and SmartTrust representatives

Fluent in English language both written and verbal

The on-site engineer should preferably also fulfil the below listed competence and skills requirements

Good knowledge in the below areas:

o GSM mobile communication

o SMS-C protocol skills

o SIM card technology

o Router and firewall technology

o WML development

o XML development

Technical customer training experience

Local language skills (depending on target country for on-site assignment)

Depending on the type of solution to be delivered, specific additional competence and skills requirements may be relevant. In such cases, delta requirements will be agreed and managed on a case-by-case basis.
